At Concordia, BREW, or Becoming Responsibly Engaged in the World, is a big phrase. Professors seem to incorporate BREW into almost all of the courses at Concordia.
This week at Concordia, it is BREW Week! There are tons of fun activities going on throughout the week all around Concordia. On Monday, we had a key note speaker, Jessica Pettit who discussed sustainability and living well. Also on Monday their was a discussion about how Heifer International is empowering families to escape poverty. Tea was provided!
Today, there was a panel discussion about sustainable businesses and a local food sampling in the atrium! My inquiry class, Food in the World, worked the booth in the atrium and discussed sustainability and eating local food. At the booth, there was bread from Fargo, sausage from Hawley, MN, and cheese from a town south of Minneapolis.
As the rest of the week goes on, there will be exciting weeks events. Tomorrow there will be an Eco Expo and a speech titled, “Conversations that Count”. Thursday, their will be a documentary about a man’s journey to leave no journey eco footprint for a whole year! It sounds really interesting how this man avoided using toilet paper and electricity.
Lastly, on Friday, there will be do it yourself tutorials which sound really fun and different! You can learn how to make your own sustainable products!
