Life’s Like a Box of Chocolates…

image001 (1)…And when I walked into Anderson Commons this evening for the “Gump Gourmet” theme dinner, I didn’t know what I was going to get!

What I got was a full Forrest Gump experience. There was music from the soundtrack playing over the speakers, pictures and quotes from the classic film on every surface and screen, and a full buffet of all of Forrest’s favorite foods: fried chicken, cornbread, mashed potatoes and gravy, shrimp right off Bubba’s boat, and even peas and carrots (just like Forrest and Jenny used to be).  Yes, there were even boxes of chocolates at Bliss (and yes, I was a little surprised when I bit into one with a cherry filing).

Just like they did with the wildly successful Frozen-themed dinner last semester, Dining Services totally outdid themselves tonight. We Cobbers are lucky to go to a school that puts in the time and effort to make our day-to-day lives a bit more interesting (not to mention one that serves amazing food).

And that’s all I have to say about that.

Hi there! My name is Katie Beedy and I am a communication studies and multimedia journalism double major, class of 2018. I am also considering a minor in women’s and gender studies. I have lived here in lovely Moorhead, Minnesota for my entire life. After years of telling myself that I needed to break free and go to school far away, I finally gave in to the voice in my head telling me that Concordia was where I needed to be (and my goodness, am I glad I did). I don’t think any other school could better suit my combined passions for music, theatre, people, literature, food, social justice, adventures, and corn-related puns.

I love words and I love Concordia. I hope to use these loves to share my Cobber experience with you all.
