Coaching

I now have  a full week of coaching under my belt. I worked with the Under 12 boys team for both of these practices, and have already had some interesting experiences while coaching. For example, I didn’t think I would hear the 10 and 11 year old boys hashing out their political views on Donald Trump at practice but that happened. We have around 24 boys on the team, so learning names has been the hardest part of coaching so far. I’m pretty bad with names in general, and 24 names is a lot to take in over two practices. I’m looking forward to the summer when I will hopefully have all of their names down and we will get the opportunity to travel to tournaments and see how the team does against other teams. I will have the opportunity to work with two teams this summer: The U12 Boys and the U10 Boys. I am excited to be busy with the teams and hopefully they boys have a fun year all the while getting better at soccer. It makes me think back to when I was a young lad playing soccer in Sioux Falls on a traveling club team for the first time. It’s cool to see the coaching side of things now.
