“Shakey” Monday!

With it being Monday, I can’t help but hope I find someone to go to Kroll’s for Shakey Monday with me. For those of you who don’t know, Shakey Monday when you can get two shakes for the price of one at Kroll’s Diner in Fargo. Kroll’s diner is an all around friendly place. I like the atmosphere, especially on Mondays. During the school year, my friends and I would go to Kroll’s later at night because that’s usually when all the college kids are around. I mean, come on! Who doesn’t love a free milkshake? And being in college, you’re always looking for free/cheap food.

The first time I went to Kroll’s was way back in September. My RA Emily thought it would be cool to make it into a floor event, so we piled into each other’s cars and made the short drive to Fargo. The first time I was there, it was kind of overwhelming–there were A LOT of people, and I had no idea what to order. That’s probably the worst part about Shakey Monday—because it is such a good deal, a lotta people show up for it.

Even so, Shakey Monday, and Kroll’s in general, became kind of a tradition for me and my friends. Once, my friends Anne, Marissa, and I went there at 2:00 in the morning, just because we could (and it’s open 24/7).

The Kroll’s employees also have a sense of humor!

One of my favorite memories of Kroll’s was toward the end of the school year. I and some of my clubbies and their friends went to Kroll’s as one last “huzzah” , and to talk about what our summer had in store for us. It was at that moment that I realized how much I was going to miss my friends over the summer. I’ve been counting down the days until everyone joins me on campus again. It’s fun being independent, but I miss my friends!

Can it just be move in day already?

Hello! My name’s Jasmine Lara, but most people call me Jazzy.

If I miraculously stick on my current career path, when I graduate from Concordia I will have a major in Social Work and Spanish, along with a minor in Psychology. Before I came to Concordia, I called Litchfield, Minnesota my home.

I’m a first generation Cobber, and the first to go to college in my family in general! Needless to say, I’m pretty proud of myself ☺. Because of this, I’m not taking my time here at Concordia for granted. Currently I’m involved in Hall Council, Homecoming Committee, and Echo Band, along with working for Dining Services and Maurices in West Fargo.

In my spare time, I like to lounge around with my friends and explore the wonderful place we call Fargo-Moorhead. On weekends you’ll often find me with my friends, whether it’s hanging out in one of their rooms, or at Kroll’s diner chowing down on one of their awesome milkshakes.

Concordia has brought me many new opportunities, some that I have yet to even figure out. Until I figure them out though, I’m just going to enjoy my time here—in my opinion, there’s nothing better than being a Cobber!
