Just call me DIY Girl

This week, my life has become a DIY Pinterest board. I have done pretty much every single DIY craft ever to be pinned on Pinterest. But, hey, I’m not complaining. Feel free to check out room 423 in Brown and I’m sure that it will be the best lookin’ dorm room you’ve ever seen.
I started off the week by doing some crafts at home with my mom. We started the night thinking we were just going to do one simple craft, but then we ended up taking on several other projects. Isn’t that how it always goes? Anyway, I wanted to decorate my plain plastic drawers because I want my dorm to feel more like home, rather than a temporary place to live. So I bought some fabric and lined the drawers with it and I think that they look pretty snazzy.

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

Then I got to thinking about this huge world map I got as a graduation gift and how I wanted to put it up in my room some how but I didn’t want to just hang it up as is. So after searching pinterest for some things to do with my map, my mom and I came up with our own idea and decided to cut the map into 3 sections, mount it on Styrofoam, decorate the sides, maybe add some clever phrase at the bottom, and VOILA. Our second craft of the night was born.
aren't they cool?!

Later this week, my future roomie Katie and I had a craft night at her house. We spent the entire evening sprawled out on her living room floor surrounded by buttons, paint, glue, paper, magazines, sequins, stickers, scissors, tape, etc. It was a crafting night of epic proportions. I had previously purchased the first letters of all my roommates’ first names and planned on decorating them that night. Not to toot my own horn, but I think that they turned out absolutely perfect. We also got a whole bunch of paint strips and made a dry erase calendar out of them!
surrounded.

Trying to decorate an entire room can get a little expensive, but with all of my crafts I maybe spent a total of $10 and I think I might even have too many things to decorate my room with! I seriously cannot wait to get to Concordia and live with my best friends in a room full of our awesome crafts. 🙂

Hello, there! I’m Kelsey Rausch and I am an English Education major from Elk River, Minnesota. It is my hope that I will be able to do extraordinary things with my life and I think I chose the right college to help me make an impact on people’s lives. I have some serious Cobber pride and couldn’t be more in love with this amazing college! I love music in every way that it can be taken in, whether that be listening, collecting, watching, or performing. I’d like to think I have great taste in music and I love connecting with people over a shared interest in music. I’m always up for an adventure and trying new things. I’m (apparently) very awful at telling stories, so I have to have crazy adventures to talk about to make up for my lack of ability. I am always in search of good books to read and I am grateful for God, who has blessed me with so much.
