Family Christmas Tradition at The Season’s Theater

Every year since I was the age of four, my family has taken time out of our busy schedules to spend a nice, all dressed up, evening together at The Seasons Dinner Theater. “The Seasons” is a locally owned dinner theater company that is now located at The Majestic Golf Course. This small dinner theater offers a comedic, heart-warming show that always leaves me feeling the true meaning and spirit of Christmas.
Each year Patti Hynes-McCarthy writes a new Christmas play. It is amazing to me that she can continue to come up with new ideas since her first play was written in 1988. She along with her husband Tom McCarthy, a professor at Anoka Ramsey Community College, then directs and produces the plays. Many actors return year after year to be part of the production. It is always fun to go to this year’s play, see who is performing and reminisce about our favorite shows.
This year’s show was titled “Christmas and Cold Feet.” It was about two love struck high school teens who make a promise to return to a same ski resort to get married if neither have found true love by the age of thirty. Long story short they didn’t marry, but decided to start dating. The twist in the story is that the widowed mother of the bride and the divorced father of the groom were married instead. The show was just what I needed to get in the Christmas spirit and I was glad to spend an evening with family.
